Winners without trembling against Liverpool on Tuesday night, Paris Saint-Germain qualified for the Champions League semifinals for a third straight year. This guarantees the Parisian club a very large check from UEFA.
So, it will be Bayern Munich vs. Paris Saint-Germain. On Wednesday night, Luis Enrique's men were able to watch as a qualified team the matchup between Real Madrid and the Germans.
The Parisian club will face Bayern, which got the better of the Merengue in an ultra-spectacular match, maybe between the two best teams in the world right now. The fixture is enticing on paper, and the level will clearly be higher than it was against Liverpool for PSG.
Whatever happens now, Paris has succeeded in its Champions League campaign, notably on the financial front. L'Equipe informs us that by reaching the final four for the second straight year, Paris Saint-Germain has secured a huge check from UEFA. Indeed, the European body will pay at least 120 million euros to the club for its run so far.
The semifinal qualification alone represents a large bonus of 15 million euros, which adds to the 106 million euros already accumulated by Paris Saint-Germain since the start of the league phase.
By way of comparison, L'Equipe recalls that the Ligue 1 leader received 149 million euros for its Champions League final victory during the 2024-2025 season. It is not yet known whether this amount can be surpassed in the event of a "back-to-back," that is, a second consecutive Champions League title.
The 120 million euro envelope will continue to grow in the event of qualification for the final, and then a title against Atletico Madrid or . Before thinking about that, Bayern Munich must be eliminated from the race. A tall order for Enrique's men, even if the doubleheader between the Bavarians and Real Madrid highlighted the many flaws of the Germans, notably on the defensive side.
PSG is guaranteed a substantial financial payout from UEFA for reaching the semifinals, although the exact amount can vary based on various factors.
