The Texas Rangers are making a change to their pitching staff.
Relievers Chris Martin and Luis Curvelo were placed on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday, and right-hander Gavin Collyer was promoted to take one of the two spots.
The other spot went to a seven-year Major League veteran who spent time with the Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves last season. He's a starting pitcher who will likely make appearances out of the bullpen.
According to a report from Kennedi Landry of MLB.com, the Rangers have called up one of Canada's starters at the World Baseball Classic, 31-year-old Cal Quantrill.
Quantrill had made three starts at Triple-A Round Rock after signing a minor league contract with the AL West club last September. Opponents hit just .212 against him, but he allowed eight earned runs in 14 innings.

Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the 26th round in 2013, Quantrill turned down the opportunity and played college baseball at Stanford University. The San Diego Padres took him eighth overall in 2016, and he made his debut in 2019.
Quantrill owns a 4.35 ERA while averaging 6.7 strikeouts per nine innings in 187 career outings, including 149 starts.
