Amid what has been a brutal start to the 2026 campaign for the Boston Red Sox, there also seems to be some problems inside the clubhouse, with guys who believe they should be playing when they aren't. One of them is Masataka Yoshida, though it's a bit unfair for him to make the comment he recently did, given the injuries he's dealt with over the past few years.
Unfortunately for the Red Sox's left-handed hitter, Boston has to be very careful in what it does with him. While he has only 19 at-bats this season, much of that is due to the Red Sox trying to keep him healthy. He hasn't proven he can stay on the field, but that hasn't stopped him from commenting on it.
âThatâs something that Iâm not used to,â Yoshida said, per the Boston Globe. âAs long as Iâm playing, right? My goal is to start in the lineup.â
It's obvious there were going to be some problems for the Red Sox regarding their outfield, given all the guys they have who can play the position.
Unfortunately for Yoshida, there isn't much he can do right now. He's dealing with prior injuries, the Red Sox are struggling, and there are just too many guys to play. This is why trading one of the outfielders during the offseason would have made a lot of sense.
