Robert Parish expressed satisfaction with Jayson Tatum's quick recovery from an Achilles tendon injury, noting advancements in rehabilitation technology. He highlighted the importance of both physical and mental recovery in Tatum's return to the court within nine months of the injury.
Back when Robert Parish was in the NBA, an Achilles tendon injury meant at least a full year on the bench rehabbing what was then perhaps the worst injury a player could suffer, with another year beyond that to look like something of your familiar self, if you were so lucky to return to such levels (many did not).
But Chief weighed in on the Achilles injury suffered by current Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum on an episode of "Locked on Celtics," saying he's thankful for how technology has smoothed the path back to the court for players like Tatum. "Not to mention Jayson has youth on his side also, so they help with the rehab," he explained. "And so I am happy – I think it was nine out of 10 months from his tear to being back on the floor, so I was happy to see that."
"One thing we all need to remember when you're rehabbing a significant injury, it's the mental we have (to work on)," he continued.
