āI have a ton of respect for him,ā Doubs said. āHeās been a dude in this league for quite a long time. I understand that when he first got in the league, Vrabel was his coach. So again, I understand there are a lot of rumors going around. If heās here, Iād love to have him here. And if he isnāt here, Iām still going to wish him the best because heās one of the best guys in this league.ā
The reality is that Doubs has never been a true No. 1 wideout before. With the Green Bay Packers, he was part of a deep group that each had their role.
That could work out to be similar to New England if the Patriots do indeed get Brown.
It's not all that often, either, that new players are asked about a guy who hasn't even been acquired yet. But that's the level of these Brown rumors and expectations. At this point, it feels like it'd be a surprise if the Pats didn't end up with Brown.
It certainly wouldn't surprise Doubs. He's clearly heard the rumors. And he seemingly has no issue with being joined on the field be another talented pass catcher, a setup that really just makes everyone's life a little easier in the New England offense.
