Oscar Delp from Georgia football is officially an NFL rookie after being picked by the New Orleans Saints in the 2026 NFL Draft. He was the No. 73 overall draft pick.
Here's what Delp brings to a pro team, based on our observations during his career with Georgia:
Oscar Delp arguably was underused at Georgia in the passing game, but he was pivotal in multiple tight end sets that Georgia used often. Delp was effective as an in-line blocker last season for a Georgia offense that improved in the run game. He's a player that should be able to step right in and contribute at tight end or H-back and could become more of a passing threat that when he was in college.
Delp showed good speed after the catch for a player that is 6-foot-4 1/2 and 245 pounds, but wasn't targeted often to show that on game days. Coach Kirby Smart said Delp never complained about a lack of touches at Georgia. Draft analyst Dane Brugler of the Athletic wrote Delp has "only adequate core strength and contact balance as an inline blocker," and gets "caught overextending in attempts to sustain and finish."
Delp, who ran a 4.49 40, said he sees himself as one of the most athletic tight ends in the draft.
"I'm a receiving tight end that learned how to block," Delp said. "I got labeled a blocking tight end just because of the things I was asked to do during my career. I'm a dude that can play anywhere and help the team out anywhere they need me."

Delp is compared to Commanders tight end Chig Okonkwo by Todd McShay of The Ringer. He wrote Okonkwo, who spent the past four seasons with the Titans after being a fourth-round pick from Maryland, "shares a similar size and explosiveness profile (minus a couple of inches) and lines up with Delp stylistically."
