SHREWSBURYâ Bishop Feehan senior pitcher and Raynham resident Brody Bumila has his first win of the season under his belt.
The 6-foot-9 southpaw, University of Texas commit and MLB Draft prospect had his longest appearance of the season so far on Thursday, April 16, earning the win in a 3-0 victory over St. John's. Bumila tossed 4 perfect innings striking out 9. He now has 27 strikeouts through 10 innings of work.
The win over the Pioneers, his third start of the year, saw some differences from his past two outings. Senior shortstop Gabe Terlato became the first player this season to send a ball into play against Bumila, albeit via a grounder back to the mound for the first out. Senior second baseman Jamie Herlihy followed with a grounder to the Shamrocks' senior first baseman Colin Lahiff before Bumila struck out senior designated hitter Conor Secrist to end the inning.
Senior catcher Owen Miller also made sent a ball into play to start the bottom of the third, only to send a grounder straight back to Bumila, who threw him out before striking out the final five batters he faced.

It also marked the first appearance for the flame-throwing lefty this season without hitting an opposing batter with a pitch. Of his 54 pitches thrown, 35 were strikes.
Bumila also took some swings at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a single and advancing once after being hit by a pitch.
"It feels good to get a first win but it feels great for the team to get a win," Bumila told the 's Tommy Cassell, praising the efforts of his teammates and fellow pitcher, junior and Dighton resident Trace Reed. "I threw a four-inning perfect game, so I can't complain about that."
