The Pittsburgh Steelers can’t afford to allow Aaron Rodgers to make them lose sight of what’s most important: solidifying a high upside quarterback capable of elevating the franchise to new heights in the foreseeable future.
Rodgers is 42 years old, and even if he does spend the 2026-27 season with the Steelers, his overall NFL outlook is bleak at this stage of his career. Heavy’s Christopher Moore believes that Pittsburgh could potentially find a valuable long-term solution at QB by trading for a Philadelphia Eagles Super-Bowl-winning signal-caller.
“Despite (Tanner) McKee’s lack of star power, the Eagles have received plenty of calls on the quarterback,” Moore wrote Wednesday.
“So far, Philadelphia has resisted the urge to offload its backup. In fact, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has claimed that Tanner provides “incredible security’ for the team.”
“Nevertheless, Roseman recently brought in veteran Andy Dalton to give typical starter an insurance policy. As a result, McKee could likely be had for the right price.”
The Steelers are reportedly interested in trading for Tanner McKee from the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Steelers aim to solidify a high-upside quarterback capable of elevating the franchise, especially with Aaron Rodgers' uncertain future.
Tanner McKee has been receiving interest from multiple teams, indicating the Eagles may be open to trade discussions.

“The former 2023 sixth-round pick is also heading towards his final year under contract with the team. Because of this, the Pittsburgh Steelers may want to take advantage of the situation to grab McKee before he ultimately hits free agency.”
McKee will remain more of a spectator than an active participant in Philadelphia as long as Jalen Hurts is a member of the Eagles. McKee has only appeared in six games through his first three NFL seasons, completing 54 passes for 597 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception.
However, a new opportunity could be just what the Stanford product needs to prove his worth in the big leagues and enjoy a productive career.
Perhaps the Steelers could provide McKee with that opportunity, and although he would still face obstacles in becoming QB No. 1, he would undoubtedly have a better chance of succeeding.
