The Detroit Tigers haven't had an ideal season in 2026, with the injury to Tarik Skubal being one of the worst things that could've happened to the team this year.

In what might be Skubal's final year in Detroit, Tigers fans will have to go potentially multiple months without their ace.

But, according to ESPN's Kiley McDaniel, the Tigers' fandom got a fascinating update on his free agency this upcoming offseason.

"Sources agreed, though, that the chances that Skubal will go back to the Detroit Tigers on a shorter-term deal with opt-outs are much higher than it was before this injury," McDaniel writes.

While this injury is not good news whatsoever, it has opened the door for Detroit to bring Skubal back for the 2027 season and potentially beyond.
