Blazers' lack of fan T-shirts invites questions
Portland Trail Blazers to skip fan T-shirts for playoff games
Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs to a playoff victory over the Trail Blazers in a vibrant atmosphere, enhanced by free promotional t-shirts for fans. The crowd of 19,372 created a stunning visual experience during the game.
During his first postseason NBA game ever, Victor Wembanyama led the San Antonio Spurs to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers. It looked beautiful, too. The Spurs provided free promotional giveaway t-shirts to fans with three colors of their classic fiesta logo, like their City Edition uniforms, provided for different sections. Here is what Wembanyama noticed when he looked into the crowd for his first postseason appearance, per Tom Orsborn (*via Express News*):
“It’s great to see this many people wear their shirts,” Wembanyama said after pumping in 35 points in 33 minutes before the brightly adorned sellout crowd of 19,372. With a beautiful court and gorgeous uniforms, the crowd participation was the icing on the cake for a perfect playoff game. This may be the best court / uniform/ crowd combination in the history of sport. I can’t think of anything close. pic.twitter.com/LytVcqbQVr

— Lev Akabas (@LevAkabas) April 20, 2026 Even longtime Spurs icons like David Robinson and Tim Duncan wore the shirt color assigned to their section. Nobody was too cool for school, which made the environment even better. Legends wearing the free t shirt > 💯💯💯 pic.twitter.com/0ubdqwOsFT
— Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz (@LeBatardShow) April 20, 2026 Those who were not wearing the free t-shirt were shamed into doing so with a "Put On Your Shirt" campaign. It was effective, too. Watch how it played out: The “Put On Your Shirt” cam at work. #PorVidapic.twitter.com/UTfqiu2oMf
— Tyler Glasscock (@TylerGlasscock\_) April 20, 2026 Wembanyama appreciated the efforts from the staff to ensure the arena was coordinated: “I love the animation (on the video boards) when they say, ‘Wear your shirt.’ Yeah, you should absolutely wear your shirt if you’re coming to the game. The first time I stepped on the court for warmups, I felt the atmosphere was different. Everybody’s ready. I mean, the fans were ready. It’s probably the most excited I’ve seen the arena this year." The Spurs are expected to do another t-shirt giveaway for Game 2 against the Trail Blazers, too, but in different colors. *This article originally appeared on For The Win: The Spurs created prettiest in-game playoff environment; See photos*
