The Boston Red Soxlost another game in frustrating fashion on Tuesday, dropping their series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the ninth with two runners on and one out, only to strand the tying and winning runs on base.
The loss dropped Boston toĀ 17-24 this season, including 7-13 at home. The Red Sox haven't been able to buy a win at Fenway recently, losingĀ 10 of their lastĀ 13 games there.
After the game, Trevor Story opened up about Boston's bizarre struggles at home.
"We've talked about it last year and pretty much every year that the best teams here play well at home," Story told NESN during his postgame interview. "We have to find a way to do that and just kind of reverse what we got going. Easier said than done, but we're putting in the work and we're confident that we can do it."

Boston's offense has been the main culprit for the team's home woes, averaging just 2.85 runs per game at Fenway compared to 4.76 runs per game on the road. The Red Sox have scored justĀ 18 runs over theirĀ lastĀ 10 home gamesĀ -- their fewest runs in aĀ 10-game home stretch sinceĀ 1917.
If Boston wants to turn its season around, it needs to find a way to start hitting more and winning more at Fenway. Story still thinks the Red Sox are capable of that.
"Just keep pushing. I know it doesn't feel good right now," Story added. "All we can do is keep working, keep pushing, we'll figure out a way."
Boston has two more games left against the Phillies to try to salvage its homestand and build some momentum before heading on the road.
