UNC basketball showing interest in NC State wing

As North Carolina continues to navigate the transfer portal this offseason, more interest and rumored targets are popping up. Michael Malone and his staff are attempting to rebuild this roster, landing one addition while welcoming back other players as well.

But the latest interest the program has comes in the form of a former recruiting target and NC State Wolfpack wing.

The Tar Heels are reportedly interested in NC State wing Paul McNeil. They have reached out to the talented wing, who they recruited a few years back.

"Just basically the interest part of it, that they [UNC] has reached out," David Sisk of TarHeel247 said on Thursday night. "We haven't really heard anything great about who visits or who else is involved with that. But we know there's interest. There's been that reach out from Malone. North Carolina was originally on him pretty hard."

Sisk mentions that the Tar Heels did scout him really hard out of high school but if there hadn't been a transfer portal, he eventually would have been offered by North Carolina.

McNeil is an interesting player who has proven to be a good shooter so far in college. He averaged 13.8 points per game last season while shooting 43.3 percent from the field. That includes shooting 42.7 percent from the three-point line.

While it has only been interest so far, let's see if this picks up as the days go on.
