A busy few days of transfer portal news for the Utah women’s basketball netted another positive development Thursday.
Less than an hour after another guard, former Oklahoma State freshman Lena Girardi, announced her commitment to the Utes, former Cal Baptist guard Filipa Barros did the same.
That gives Utah three transfer portal additions — all along the guard line — in the past three days.
Barros is a 5-foot-9 guard who hails from Portugal. She has played for Cal Baptist the past four seasons, with a medical redshirt year in 2024-25.
She’ll have one season of eligibility remaining when she lands in Salt Lake City.
Barros started 65 games for the Lancers over her time at the school, including 32 this past season.
During her redshirt junior year in 2025-26, Barros averaged 11.0 points as well as career highs with 9.9 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.7 steals per game.
She shot a career-best 40% from the field this past season, including 40.7% from 3-point range and 79.5% at the free-throw line.
Filipa Barros is a former guard for Cal Baptist known for her performance in the NCAA tournament, including a notable 3-point basket against UCLA.
Filipa Barros is expected to strengthen Utah's guard lineup, contributing her skills and experience as the team adds depth through recent transfers.

Barros earned first-team All-WAC honors and helped Cal Baptist advance to the NCAA Tournament as WAC tournament champions. In the NCAA’s first round, she had 7 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in a loss to eventual national champion UCLA.
She had several other notable performances throughout the season.
In a win over Long Beach State, she recorded only the second-ever triple-double in program history with 10 points, 11 assists and 12 rebounds.
Barros secured a career-high 18 rebounds in the team’s season-opening win over UC Riverside.
She also scored a career-best 32 points in a league victory over UT Arlington.
USA Today’s Mitchell Northam ranked Barros the No. 33 player in the women’s college basketball transfer portal this offseason.
Barros is the most accomplished of the Utes’ three solid transfer additions this week.
“The MVP of the WAC Tournament, Barros was the leader for the Lancers as they made the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history,” Northam wrote of Barros.
“The 5-foot-9 redshirt junior guard from Portugal was the only player in the nation to average at least 10.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game while shooting better than 40% from 3-point land.”
Along with Girardi, Utah has also added former Kansas guard Laia Conesa via the transfer portal this week.
That helps fill a huge void, after guard LA Sneed, Brooke Walker, Avery Hjelmstad and Grace Foster all entered the portal following the 2025-26 season.
Sneed (Oklahoma State), Walker (Colorado) and Hjelmstad (TCU) are all transferring to other Big 12 programs.
Barros will especially help at the point guard position, after Utah lost its two primary point guards — Sneed and Walker — from a year ago.
Plus, Barros will bring a veteran presence to the Utes.
Ella Todd is back for the Utes along the guard line, after she sat her freshman season due to injury.
Utah will also have a pair of freshman guards joining the program in Peyton Jones, a four-star talent from Colorado, and Bountiful High’s Milika Satuala, this year’s Deseret News Ms. Basketball recipient.
