Four-star RB Moonie Gipson has committed to Georgia Tech, choosing the Yellow Jackets over Auburn and Virginia Tech.
On April 30, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Wild both clinched playoff series victories, marking a historic day in Minnesota sports. Additionally, the Minnesota Twins secured a 7-1 win against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Minnesota Timberwolves closed out their NBA playoff series against the Denver Nuggets just before midnight local time on Thursday, April 30.
Just an hour or so earlier, the Minnesota Wild finished off a first-round NHL playoff series win, knocking out the rival Dallas Stars.

Both games were at home. Both twin cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul, hosted playoff clinchers in front of raucous crowds. For the first time ever, the Timberwolves and Wild advanced to the second round in the same year.
Oh, and the Minnesota Twins collected a 7-1 home victory over the Toronto Blue Jays for good measure.
It was one of the top days in Minnesota sports history. That is unquestioned.
But was it the single top sports day ever in the North Star State?
To borrow a phrase from Minnesota native Prince, ânothing compares 2â winning a championship in one of the four major sports (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL).
Although it has been quite a while, Minnesota has plenty of experience hoisting the ultimate prize.
Of course, the Vikings are famously 0-for-4 in the Super Bowl, though they did win the 1969 NFL title, just before the AFL-NFL merger, before losing Super Bowl IV to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Twins won World Series crowns in 1987 and 1991. And the old George Mikan-led Minneapolis Lakers took five NBA titles between 1949 and 1954 before moving to Los Angeles.
For a single day, weâll choose Oct. 27, 1991, the day the Twins closed out a classic World Series in Game 7 against the Atlanta Braves at the old Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. Long live the Homer Hanky and the âBaggieâ in the outfield.
On April 30, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Wild both won their playoff series, while the Minnesota Twins also achieved a victory.

Although the beloved Vikings are still chasing that first Super Bowl crown, they have authored a pair of incredible moments on home soil (turf).
On Jan. 14, 2018, quarterback Case Keenum connected with Stephon Diggs on a 61-yard touchdown pass as time expired to give the Vikings a Minnesota Miracle victory over the New Orleans Saints in an NFC divisional playoff game.
On Dec. 17, 2022, Minnesota trailed 33-0 at halftime against the Indianapolis Colts. Somehow, the Vikings rallied for a 39-36 win, the biggest comeback in NFL history, to clinch the NFC North title.
Also, Ahmad Rashadâs one-handed Hail Mary grab for a 1980 victory over the Cleveland Browns was pretty cool.
April 30, 2026, is not the best sports day in the history of Minnesota sports. It was pretty darn cool, though. Definitely worth remembering.
Weâll place it in the top five. Both Twins championships rank higher as do the two most recent Vikings miracles. The championships won by the Lakers happened before their league was fully formed, so weâll employ a little recency bias there.
