The Washington Huskies ended their seven-game losing streak with an 8-2 victory over Ohio State. Sophia Ramuno pitched a complete game, allowing only 2 runs while striking out 11 batters.
The Washington Huskies' seven-game losing streak has come to an end after a desperately-needed 8-2 win over the Ohio State Buckeyes on the road on Saturday afternoon.
Behind a stellar outing from starter Sophia Ramuno, who let up 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits and 4 walks with 11 strikeouts in a complete game effort as she improved to 10-4 on the year, coach Heather Tarr's team snapped a skid that began on April 17. While Ramuno led the way, UW's 8 runs were the most the Huskies have scored since April 4.
Preseason Second Team All-American Alexis DeBoer led the way, going 2-for-4 with a double and her team-leading 18th home run of the year, while freshman second baseman Marley Teasley and junior catcher Jadyn Glab launched three and two-run home runs, respectively, in the victory.
For Teasley, it was the first homer of her college career.
Left fielder Ava Carroll also collected a pair of hits as the Huskies are looking to get back into a rhythm at the plate ahead of the Big Ten Tournament next week, after struggling against two of the conference's top teams: Oregon and UCLA.
Center fielder Skylar Limon hit a home run in the seventh inning for the Buckeyes, while Jenna Molk took the loss and dropped to 15-14 on the year after working 6 innings and letting up 6 runs (5 earned) on 5 hits and 3 walks with 6 strikeouts.
With the win, the Huskies improved to 35-16 on the year and 16-7 in Big Ten play. They'll finish off the regular season with a rubber match against the Buckeyes on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. PT.
