Denver Broncos general manager George Paton and head coach Sean Payton appeared in a joint pre-draft virtual press conference ahead of the 2026 NFL draft on Thursday.
The Broncos currently hold seven picks in the upcoming draft, with their first pick scheduled to come in the second round, at 62nd overall. Although Denver is without a first-round pick, expectations of drafting starting-caliber players remain high.
“The good news is we have experience with this," said Paton of only having one pick in the top 100 selections. "I think our first draft, we had five picks. Our expectations are the same. They’re high. We think there are good players in this draft. We think there are good players where we’re picking at 62. We have two picks up in the top of the fourth [round], and we feel good [about] what’s going to be there. We like it. We don’t mind it, and we know we still have flexibility with the seven picks to move up or move back and get more picks. We have experience with this. We’ve gotten good players with lesser picks, so we feel good.”
Denver is comfortable trading picks throughout the selection process, so don't be surprised if they pick up a few more picks (or players) along the way, as has been predicted by former Bronco cornerback Aqib Talib.
