Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is supposed to be the scary, dangerous hitter in the middle of the Toronto Blue Jays' lineup.

Right now, though, he's hardly doing any damage.

Guerrero is on a stretch of more than 50 plate appearances in a row without an extra-base hit.

Hitters slump, so that stat alone wouldn't necessarily paint the worst picture.

But even before this stretch, Guerrero had been struggling to hit for power the entire season.

Where has the power gone?

Guerrero simply can't get his timing and point of contact in a place that allows him to drive the baseball.

He also entered this season with outsized expectations based on last year's playoffs. He was never going to fully replicate that power he showed in a small sample of the postseason.

Yes, Vladdy has been much better than this in past regular seasons, but he has fluctuated some. Not all his years seem to have been created equal.

Clearly, the Blue Jays are relying on Guerrero to hit for power. They've constructed a lineup with a lot of contact around him but not a ton of pure pop.
