The Taunton Daily Gazette is seeking votes for the High School Boys Athlete of the Week for April 27-May 3. Polls are open until noon on May 10, allowing fans to choose their favorite athlete from eligible players.
The first full month of the spring high school sports season has come and gone in the Greater Taunton area.
Last week, Taunton boys volleyball held off Dighton-Rehoboth's comeback effort after a resurgent third set in a clash of the area's two boys volleyball squads while Taunton baseball earned a pair of key Hockomock League wins and Dighton-Rehoboth lacrosse took down South Coast Conference rivals Seekonk in overtime. Bridgewater-Raynham lacrosse scored a pair of solid non-league wins while Bridgewater-Raynham and Dighton-Rehoboth track and field each had a pair of second-place finishes in their respective MSTCA Divisional relays.
The Taunton Daily Gazette High School Boys Athlete of the Week for April 20-26 is Taunton baseball's Javien Nunez, receiving 46%. Dighton-Rehoboth lacrosse's Jameson Murphy came in second with 42% while Bristol-Plymouth baseball's Jake LaPlante received 5% to finish third.
