The week's nominees are:
Ethan Wright had eight hits, scored nine runs and had five RBIs in three games as he helped lead Grace Christian to a VACA state championship. Wright had two doubles and a home run among his hits. He also pitched in one game, striking out 11 in picking up the win.
Ellie Weatherholtz scored six goals and had a pair of assists in two wins for Stuarts Draft. Weatherholtz scored three of her goals and got both assists in a 9-1 win over Rockbridge County before scoring three more goals in a 7-1 win over Alleghany.
In returning from a eye injury that had kept him out since the season opener, senior Tripp Hanger had three hits, three RBIs and scored five runs in two Fort Defiance games. He also had two home runs, one in each game.
Charleigh Phillips homered to help Buffalo Gap tie Rockbridge County in the bottom of the fifth in a Gap 2-1 win May 7. She finished the week with two hits, two runs scored and an RBI as the Bison remained in first place in the Shenandoah District.
Wilson Memorial's Addy Flesher laid down a sacrifice bunt May 8 to score Bradley Young with what was ultimately the winning run in an 8-6 win over Fort Defiance. The run capped a rally that brought Wilson back from a 5-0 deficit to keep the Hornets undefeated in Shenandoah District play.
