The Philadelphia Phillies are taking on the Miami Marlins down in Florida for the chance to extend their winning streak to five games and stay undefeated in the Don Mattingly era.

Why is the outfield configured in such a strange way? MLB.com's Todd Zolecki shared just why the Phillies are trotting out such a strange outfield, and it's thanks to a pair of injuries/ailments.
"Justin Crawford has been scratched from the Phillies lineup because of a migraine," Zolecki reports. "Garrett Stubbs will start in LF, Adolis Garcia in CF, and Felix Reyes in RF. got drilled on the right elbow last night, so he's unavailable."

With the Phillies getting J.T. Realmuto back from the injured list, they decided to DFA Dylan Moore and keep three catchers on the roster, with Stubbs and Rafael Marchan remaining in the Majors for the Phillies.
While Stubbs normally doesn't play the field, he does have the ability to in a pinch. And that's exactly where the Phillies find themselves on Saturday, May 2nd, against the Marlins.
Crawford is dealing with a migraine and isn't in the starting lineup for the Phillies. Marsh was banged up last night during the win and won't be playing for the Phillies on Saturday either.
That leaves very few options for the outfield, with Garcia, Stubbs, and Reyes getting the starts. They could've started Edmundo Sosa in left field, as he did in 2025 at the beginning of the year for a short period of time, but Mattingly elected for Stubbs instead.
It's a strange outfield set-up, but it's what the Phillies have to do on Saturday, caused by ailments to two of the normal starters in Marsh and Crawford.
