Portland Trail Blazers to skip fan T-shirts for playoff games
The Wilson Warbirds hit four home runs in their first week at the new Wilson Stadium, including two game-winning homers. José Anderson and Luis Lameda delivered the clutch hits in their games against Hill City.
Mentioned in this story
The Milwaukee Brewers' low Class A affiliate Wilson Warbirds hit a grand total of four home runs during their first week in their new stadium. Two of them, though, won the game.
Formerly the Carolina Mudcats, the relocated and rebranded franchise played its first games inside new Wilson Stadium this week, taking on Hill City for six games. The new spot, roughly 26 miles east of its old home in Zebulon, cost $64 million to construct. Some of the fireworks, it turned out, came with the venue.
On April 19, the Warbirds closed the week with a game-winning blast from 19-year-old José Anderson, who might not rank in the team's top 30 prospects according to MLB Pipeline but isn't far behind. Anderson celebrated the two-run shot with a big-league bat flip as the Warbirds won, 5-3.
It was Anderson's second home run of the week and third of the season – and, again, homers don't exactly grow on trees at that level.
On April 17, the winner came from Luis Lameda, the No. 9 hitter who had walked three times in the game and didn't even have an official at-bat until his winner gave the Warbirds a 7-6 win.
Intriguing 19-year-old starter Tyler Renz started April 19 and allowed two earned runs in four innings, his second start of the week. On April 14, he allowed just two hits in five innings with five strikeouts and no runs in the Wilson Stadium opener. He has a 1.93 ERA in 14 innings.
With the Brewers' minor-league system regarded as one of the best in baseball, we'll give a regular glance at what's been happening at Nashville, Biloxi, Appleton, Wilson and other stops on the ladder.

Shane Drohan had an uneven first big-league appearance in Boston, but he rebounded nicely against the Red Sox AAA players in two starts this week. He allowed two earned runs in five innings during a 4-2 loss April 19 and allowed one earned run in 5⅓ innings with eight strikeouts April 14.
Reliever Craig Yoho made his first appearance of the year April 19, facing four batters and issuing a walk with nothing else. Tyler Black also returned from injury for the first time since April 5, belting an RBI double in his first game back April 19.
Milwaukee Brewers infield prospect Josh Adamczewski walks along the dugout during spring training workouts Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at American Family Fields of Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona.
We'll continue to save the Jesús Made and Luis Peña updates for their own segment below, but they were great again. The big breakout of the week, however, was Wisconsin's Josh Adamczewski, who's second in the Midwest League with five homers – four of them this week.
The left-handed-hitting 20-year-old has been playing almost exclusively outfield this year, which should give him the best path to the big leagues. He hit homers in both halves of an April 15 doubleheader, then hit two in one game April 18, finishing with five RBIs. He also walked in that game, singled in the tying run in the ninth and scored the winning walk-off run on a wild pitch.
The 15th-round pick in 2023 is considered the No. 10 prospect in the organization by MLB Pipeline.
All the good vibes you were feeling about the No. 1 prospect in the organization coming into the year: Justified.
We are again obligated to remind you that he's 18 years old in a pitcher-friendly Double-A league. He homered April 15 (off top-10 Braves prospect Owen Murphy, no less), tripled April 17, combined for three doubles April 18-19 and stole three bases last week for good measure. He's batting .333 with a .432 on-base percentage and 1.019 OPS.
The No. 2 prospect appears to be in a rush to join Made at AA.
He played in only four games this week but had a hit in all of them, including a homer, and he's up to a nine-game hitting streak. His numbers: a 1.059 OPS and a .488 on-base percentage with six stolen bases. His .400 batting average leads the Midwest League.
Pratt hit safely in three of five games this week, but he has only a .542 OPS in his first 50 at-bats at Nashville this year. The right-handed-hitting shortstop won't turn 22 until August.
The 2025 first-round pick showed signs of breaking out of his early season slump, with three doubles over his final two games in the week. On April 18, he reached base all five times (a double, two singles, two walks) and has a .375 on-base percentage.
It would be surprising if Will Childers didn't earn some time in the Brewers bullpen this year. The 25-year-old has been lights-out at Nashville, allowing zero runs in his nine innings, with just six hits, three walks and 12 strikeouts. He's got four saves for the Sounds, and the undrafted free-agent signee in 2022 is knocking on the door should the Brewers need a reliever not already on the 40-man roster. Childers is the son of Matt Childers, who pitched for the Brewers briefly in 2002.
One last nugget of incredibly heartening news: Brewers 2025 draft pick Frank Cairone has been cleared for baseball activity and is headed to the Brewers' Arizona complex, according to a post shared on Cairone's Instagram page.
The second-round pick from a New Jersey high school in 2025 is regarded as the No. 27 prospect in the organization by Pipeline, but his pro career was delayed after a car accident in the offseason. The left-handed pitcher has made remarkable strides since the incident.
The Sounds faced former Brewers player Anthony Seigler with Worcester this week after trading Seigler to the Red Sox this offseason. He's struggled in a tiny sample since returning from injury.
Perhaps just as interesting, the Sounds also saw Kristian Campbell, who has a .706 OPS in 19 games. Campbell is an interesting data point for Brewers fans and followers of Cooper Pratt. Campbell, one of the top prospects in the Boston organization at the time and the 2024 minor-league player of the year, signed an eight-year, $60 million extension last April shortly after making his big-league debut, but he struggled in 67 games with the Red Sox last year, and the 23-year-old is still finding his footing again in 2026.
Pratt, 21, isn't quite as highly ranked across baseball but remains a highly intriguing prospect who signed an extension worth $51 million with the Brewers this year, all before his big-league debut.
