Dodgers’ Tyler Glasnow Reaches Stunning Career Milestone

Los Angeles Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow recorded his 1,000th career strikeout in his start against the Houston Astros Wednesday.

Glasnow, after allowing a lead-off homer to Brice Matthews, snapped straight back into it and struck out one of the best hitters in MLB in Yordan Alvarez to record No. 1,000. It was his 48th strikeout of the season, which leads all Dodgers.

The Santa Clarita native has recorded more than a quarter of his strikeouts with the Dodgers since signing with LA ahead of the 2024 season. He had a career-high 168 of them in his first season with the team, during which he made his first All-Star Game, and followed to up with 106 in 2025.

As it stands, he’s on pace to break his personal record in 2026.

His strikeouts aren’t the only thing that stand out, though, as he’s been one of the Dodgers’ best pitchers since his arrival despite his injury struggles. He had a 3.49 ERA through 22 games in 2024 before missing the end of the season with an injury, and finished strong in 2025 with a 3.19 ERA despite missing most of the beginning of the season on the injured list.

Glasnow has been , posting a 2.56 ERA through his first six appearances. He led MLB in hits per nine innings heading into his start Wednesday with a mark of 4.4, and has what would be the lowest WHIP of his career with a 0.828.
