John Blackwell is weighing his options between joining Duke or declaring for the NBA Draft after a strong season at Wisconsin. He is currently participating in the NBA Draft Combine to gather feedback from teams.
After losing both Cameron Boozer and Isaiah Evans to the NBA Draft, Duke head coach Jon Scheyer has softened the blow by receiving a commitment from former Wisconsin guard John Blackwell.
Blackwell showcased strong scoring for the Badgers last season, averaging 19.1 points per game, 5.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
However, there's no guarantee that Blackwell suits up for the Blue Devils next season. Blackwell is currently among the prospects at the NBA Draft Combine and could declare for the NBA Draft depending on his feedback from teams.
In a recent interview with college basketball analyst Andy Katz, Blackwell opened up on his decision-making process.
"It's up in the air right now," Blackwell told Katz on Monday. "I'm just trusting God through the process. I would love to play for a prestigious college like Duke. But I'm just chasing my dreams right now, weighing what's best for me.
"Coach Scheyer's been helpful through the process, and the whole coaching staff at Duke has been helpful through the process. In my opinion, it's a win-win situation with both (options) because I either get to play at the best college in the country or live out my dreams and play in the NBA."
Although Duke fans would be heartbroken to lose out on Blackwell, he isn't the only collegiate player weighing his options. Two other players that Duke has been linked to this offseason (Allen Graves and Milan Momcilovic) are also expected to test their luck with the draft process.

Blackwell is considering the NBA Draft to evaluate his potential based on feedback from teams at the NBA Draft Combine.
If Blackwell chooses to join Duke, it will help offset the loss of players Cameron Boozer and Isaiah Evans to the NBA Draft.
