It's hard to have a worse week than New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel had leading into the 2026 NFL Draft.
Seemingly every hour, there was another "spy" selling their years-old photos of the coach and reporter Dianna Russinni engaged in some substandard activities.
It came to a head on Saturday when Vrabel stepped away from his duties in the Patriots' war room for the third and final day of the NFL Draft (a day in which the Patriots performed horribly, for what it's worth). Vrabel took the day to allegedly attend therapy in hopes of smoothing things over on the family front.
When he returned to Foxboro for an event in front of season ticket holders, the head coach was met with thunderous applause.
Now, on the human front, I completely understand the gesture to show support for a person who is going through a lot. It's a small way to say, 'you've been through it, and we are here for you.'
But I'm not sure how I feel about applauding these allegations.
While I support Vrabel and his family, and don't believe the photographs released are grounds for removal from his position or league punishment, I'm certainly not going to put my hands together for them.
It's a confusing feeling that Patriots fans have been forced to confront.
At the very least, Vrabel now knows where the most dedicated Patriots fans stand.
