There's bad, and then there's awful quarterback rooms heading into the 2026 season. And the Pittsburgh Steelers have sadly fallen into the latter, as CBS Sports recently ranked the NFL's top-10 worst QB rooms in 2026.
Garrett Podell of CBS Sports analyzed the NFL's top-10 worst quarterback rooms, ranking teams like the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, Minnesota Vikings, the Steelers, and more. For Pittsburgh's quarterback situation, the Steelers came in as the third-worst in the league.
"Veteran backup Mason Rudolph started one game in 2025 in place of an injured Aaron Rodgers, in a 31-28 loss to the Chicago Bears. Will Howard, a 2025 sixth-round pick out of Ohio State, has yet to throw a pass in the NFL regular season, and new coach Mike McCarthy just drafted Penn State's Drew Allar in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft," Podell wrote. "At the moment, two-thirds of the Steelers' quarterback room has yet to throw a pass in the NFL regular season."
The Steelers' quarterback room is considered weak due to the inexperience of players like Mason Rudolph and rookie Drew Allar, with two-thirds of the room yet to throw a pass in the NFL.
Alongside the Steelers, the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, and Minnesota Vikings are also featured in CBS Sports' ranking of the top 10 worst quarterback rooms.

While Rodgers is still expected to join the Steelers in 2026, it's hard to disagree with Podell when taking a look at the currently inexperienced quarterback room.
What hasn't helped the Steelers' potential quarterback stability are the Rodgers-to-Arizona rumors, particularly when a Cardinals wide receiver attempted to recruit the 42-year-old quarterback to the NFC West.
