The Washington Huskies women's basketball team is ranked No. 11 in the post-transfer Top 25 poll by The Athletic for the 2026-27 season. This ranking follows the addition of several transfers, including former five-star forward Kaelyn Carroll from Kentucky.
With the caveat of a few more transfer portal additions throughout the country the Washington Huskies women's basketball program came in ranked in the top 25 in a recent post-portal ranking by The Athletic ahead of the 2026-27 season.
After fifth-year coach Tina Langley already signed a trio of transfers; North Carolina State forward Tilda Trygger and a pair of guards, ex-Colorado State sophomore and former Oklahoma State junior Macey Huard, but also prior to the recent commitment from former five-star forward Kaelyn Carroll from Kentucky, the Huskies came in ranked No. 11 in the country and fourth in the Big Ten Conference behind USC (No. 3), Michigan (No. 4) and Minnesota (No. 9).
This past season, UW made it as high as No. 20 in the Associated Press women's basketball Top 25 poll the day after losing 59-50 at No. 16 USC for the Huskies' first defeat of the season. After falling 62-59 in overtime to No. 14 TCU in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament, the program ended Langley's fifth season at UW ranked No. 25 in the final AP poll, the first time in her tenure the team was ranked at the end of the year.
Two of the four transfer additions to join the Huskies women's hoops program, Trigger (10.6 points) and Carlson (11.7 points), averaged in double-figures in scoring last season, something neither of the four graduating seniors nor the three other players who transferred out managed to accomplish in 2025-26.
While Carroll, the most recent transfer commitment for UW, didn't make a start as a freshman in the SEC, pairing the ex-five-star with fellow top recruit and returning sophomore forward Brynn McGaughy, who averaged 9.3 points and 4.3 rebounds this past season, should prove to be a formidable front-court duo.
In addition, all four incoming players have multiple seasons of eligibility left, which should give Langley not only a likely tournament-worthy team this coming season, but also potentially for the 2027-28 season and beyond as she continues to re-elevate UW into a perennial top 25 team.
The Washington Huskies women's basketball team is currently ranked No. 11 in the post-transfer Top 25 poll.
Key transfers include Tilda Trygger from North Carolina State, Macey Huard from Colorado State, and Kaelyn Carroll from Kentucky.
In the previous NCAA season, the Huskies reached as high as No. 20 in the AP poll and ended the season ranked No. 25 after losing in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
