Denzel Boston will be taking his talents to Cleveland.
The former Washington Huskies wide receiver was selected at No. 39 overall by the Cleveland Browns during the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday, joining a receiving corps that includes veteran Jerry Jeudy and No. 24 overall pick KC Concepcion of Texas A&M.
Boston was frequently selected by the Browns at 24 by national analysts, but many thought the Browns would be done adding to their wide receiver room after taking Concepcion on Thursday. Concepcion is more of a dynamic outside-inside player, however, and his skillset should mesh with Boston, who is more of a true X receiver.
Cleveland has not settled on its quarterback for 2026, with Deshaun Watson returning from a torn Achilles tendon and 2024 draft picks Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel returning for their second seasons as well. Many national analysts think that the Browns will select a quarterback of the future in the 2027 draft.
Boston was - surprisingly - the seventh receiver off the board, following Carnell Tate, Jordyn Tyson, Makai Lemon, Concepcion, Omar Cooper Jr., and De'Zhaun Strbling. Tate went No. 4 overall to the Tennessee Titans, Tyson was No. 8 to the New Orleans Saints, Lemon No. 20 to the Eagles, Cooper No. 30 to the Jets, and Stribling No. 33 to the earlier on Friday.

Ranked as the No. 6 receiver in the class by The Athletic's Dane Brugler, Boston recorded 132 receptions for 1,781 yards and 20 touchdowns with only 5 career drops in his four-year career at Washington. He waited his turn behind Rome Odunze, Ja'Lynn Polk, and Jalen McMillan for two seasons before breaking out as a redshirt sophomore in 2024 with 63 receptions for 834 yards and 9 touchdowns.
Boston added a 78-yard punt return touchdown to his resume last season, with his scouting report from Brugler reading: "Boston builds his speed with smooth, long strides and naturally adjusts with the hand strength of a ball winner, which should quickly earn him the trust of an NFL quarterback. With his ability to win inside or outside, his game has shades of 2025 Houston Texans draft pick Jayden Higgins."
