Jake Paul stated there is a strong possibility he may not fight again after suffering a broken jaw from Anthony Joshua. He is currently awaiting scans to assess his recovery and future in boxing.
Jake Paul says there's "most definitely" a possibility that he might not step into a boxing ring as a fighter again.
The former YouTube star is still recovering from a broken jaw suffered at the hands of former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua after the two fought in an exhibition match in December. Joshua knocked down Paul four times before delivering the knockout blow in the sixth round.
Paul appeared on an episode of The Ariel Helwani Show that was published on Monday, May 11, and spoke about getting back into the ring.
"I'm getting some new scans here in a couple of days of the jaw to get an update on the healing process," he said. "We'll see what my doctors say. I think I'll be able to get a more accurate time frame or can I even fight again? That is definitely in the realm and possibilities of things."
The host appears surprised at the answer and asked "El Gallo" to confirm that his fighting future is in doubt.
"Most definitely," Paul said. "I think it just depends on how the bone heals."
The boxer also had teeth removed after the fight and explained that getting an implant will add more time to his recovery before he can be cleared to spar. Paul has been working with Dr. Arman Jahangiri from the University of Miami since having surgery to repair his jaw, which was broken in two places. He said that Jahangiri is among those who have been discouraging him from getting back into the ring.
He also shared what his fiancƩe, Jutta Leerdam, is telling him about a potential return to boxing. She is a Dutch speedskater who won gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
"She is kind of in like both boats," Paul said, "because she understands being an athlete and like having that feeling inside of you of wanting to prove yourself more and to compete and the love of that.
"But she also knows I don't have to fight and all of these things and there's so many amazing businesses that I'm working on and are crushing it that she has also mentioned the other side of like, yeah, you don't actually need to do this. But she's supportive of whatever decision I make."
Jake Paul mentioned there is a possibility he might not return to boxing, but his future is still uncertain.
